PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break and is ready for an exciting Term 4. This term is always full of opportunities for growth, learning, and celebration, and we are thrilled to see our students return with energy and enthusiasm.
A highlight coming up is our Special Persons Afternoon, next Tuesday at 2:15pm. Students are warmly inviting someone special — a family member, friend, or mentor — to share their classroom learning and experiences. It’s always a wonderful way for students to showcase their achievements and connect with the people who support them. Alongside this event, this term we have several other opportunities to look forward to – the Festival by the Bridge, Inter-School Swimming Carnival, the K-2 Fit and Fun Morning, a ‘Dress as Future Career’ fundraiser, the Triathlon, Grade 7 Orientation visits, excursions and end of year celebrations. Keep an eye on the school calendar for these important dates and times!
We would like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our School Association, particularly in relation to the upcoming Festival by the Bridge. Their support ensures these events run smoothly and are enjoyable for our whole school community. We encourage parents and carers to sign up and help at the festival via this link: Festival By The Bridge - Montagu Bay — Signup Sheet | SignUp.com Your involvement makes a big difference!

Kinder Yellow
A snapshot of learning and adventures in Kinder Yellow for Term 3 included science week, book week, excursion to the sustainability centre, Nurse Bec in to talk about our health, sharing our learning with our families, footy colours and dance event. We also explored the global concept of Social Justice and what this looks like in Kinder. We discussed what being fair means and ways we can show this and that everyone is unique and we all are different.
We have been focusing on kindness and everyone is different and unique. The students have dressed themselves and made a kindness tree where we can record when someone is kind to others. We have been discussing what feedback means to us and how to give feedback.
During Science Week, we made solar prints using natural materials collected from the playground. We then worked with our buddies to make the prints by selecting materials, placing them on the sheet in direct sunlight to form the prints.
Some highlights and things we really enjoyed from our excursion to the Sustainability Centre last week. It was a very busy day with Loose Parts play beginning with a book called “Where Is Galah?” and Erin leading us in Bush play where we learnt about being on country and how we kept warm. We also saw some different nests and looked for bandicoot holes. We explored the room with curiosities.
Our imaginative play has focused on our pizza restaurant. We have been busy making pizzas, rearranging the restaurant, taking orders and serving our customers. At the end of the term, we all made our own favourite pizzas from collage materials.

3-4 Yellow
On Thursday, our Grade 3/4 classes went on an exciting excursion to Richmond Village. We had an amazing time learning about Tasmania’s colonial history and exploring some really interesting places!
Our first stop was the Richmond Bridge, the oldest stone bridge still in use in Australia. We loved walking across it and imagining what it would have been like when horses and carts crossed it long ago. We also did some great sketches of the bridge.
Next, we visited the model village, where we saw a miniature version of Hobart in the 1820s. The tiny buildings and people were so detailed—it was like stepping back in time! We were very impressed with how they created these models.
We finished the day at the old Richmond Gaol. It was fascinating (and a bit spooky!) to see the tiny cells where prisoners once stayed and to hear stories about life in the gaol over 150 years ago. Some of us even had a go at pretending to be prisoners in the solitary confinement cell. We can’t believe people stayed in those dark cells for up to 31 days!
It was the perfect day of fun and learning. A big thank you to our amazing parent helpers for coming along and making our day so enjoyable!

School Association – Festival by the Bridge
Our Festival by the Bridge is just around the corner, and we need your help! Each class will be running a stall, and we're asking families to volunteer for a 30-minute time slot to keep things running smoothly. You can sign up via the Festival by the Bridge app, available on the Parents & Friends page of the School Association website or using the following link. Festival By The Bridge - Montagu Bay — Signup Sheet | SignUp.com
Festival Dollars will be on sale at school drop off and pick up most school days leading up to the fair! They’ll be available as $10 necklaces, just like in previous years. Look out for us opposite the Kinder classrooms in Junior School!
This popular event brings together students, families, and the wider Clarence community for a fun-filled evening of food, music, and activities. It's one of our most significant community events, with all proceeds supporting vital school projects and resources that directly benefit our students.
From the start of Term Four, classes will begin preparing their stalls. We'd love families to get involved by planting seedlings for our plant store, finding books for the book stall, sourcing jars for the 5-6’s lucky jar stall, or donating prizes for the chocolate wheel.
We hope you'll join us to make this year’s Festival a truly special celebration for our students and families. If you have any questions or have a business and are interested in getting involved, please don't hesitate to contact us at festivalbythebridge25@gmail.com. We'd love to hear from you!
Thanks for supporting our school community – we couldn’t do it without you!
Grade 6 Stars Represent Tasmania at National Touch Football Championships
We are incredibly proud to share that three of our talented Grade 6 students – Harry B, Harry M, and Angus V – were selected to represent Tasmania in the Tasmanian Thunder Under 12’s Touch Football Team at the recent National Youth Touch Football 2025 competition held in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
The event took place during the first week of the school holidays, and our students showcased not only their impressive sporting abilities but also their strong character. Throughout the tournament, they consistently demonstrated the Three R’s – Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience – both on and off the field.
Congratulations to Harry, Harry, and Angus on this fantastic achievement! You have made your school and state proud.
