PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Enhancing Student Success Through Inclusive Discussions of Learning
We know that student's success is enhanced by collaborative efforts of parents, teachers, and the students themselves. Our upcoming Discussions of Learning offer an inclusive approach welcoming students in the conversation. This initiative aims to foster a supportive and transparent environment where everyone can contribute to the learner’s academic growth.
Why Include Students?
Involving students in these discussions empowers them to take ownership of their learning journey, which directly aligns to our School Priority of increasing learner cognitive engagement through agency. It encourages self-reflection, accountability, and a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement. By participating, students can voice their perspectives, set personal goals, and work alongside their families and teachers to achieve them.
We’re expecting several positive outcomes including:
Enhanced Communication: Open dialogue between students, families, and teachers that leads to a better understanding of each student's needs.
Increased Motivation: Students feeling more motivated and engaged when they are part of the conversation about their learning.
Stronger Support System: Families and teachers able to provide more targeted support, knowing the student's personal goals and challenges.
Improved Academic Performance: With clear goals and a collaborative action plan, students being better equipped to succeed academically.
Did you know you can book an appointment with our PE and Music teachers too?
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our students' success.
Regards
Cathy Young

PE News
So far in Term 2, we have had the grade 3-5s involved in the annual Swimming and Water Safety Program. Well done to all students who have worked hard to consolidate or extend their water skills, as well as update their safety awareness around aquatic environments.
Cross Country has been another major focus for the 3-6s recently. We have used this as an opportunity to practice individual goal setting as a means of self-motivation, as well as a fitness boost by practicing the course multiple times. We also explored what a sustainable running pace felt like over several kilometres when racing that allowed for both good speed/race time yet left a last little bit of energy to finish with a final burst to the finish line.
As a whole school, we have had overarm throwing as a skill focus.
We have used a provocation that inspires us to experiment with how to generate different amounts of power with our bodies, and how to combine that power with increasingly accurate aiming. After a few PE lessons of refining the skill itself, we are now moving to adapting and using the overarm skill in games and sports.
